Review The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong

Goodreads :  If you had met me a few weeks ago, you probably would have described me as an average teenage girl—someone normal. Now my life has changed forever and I'm as far away from normal as it gets. A living science experiment—not only can I see ghosts, but I was genetically altered by a sinister organization called the Edison Group. What does that mean? For starters, I'm a teenage necromancer whose powers are out of control; I raise the dead without even trying. Trust me, that is not a power you want to have. Ever.
Now I'm running for my life with three of my supernatural friends—a charming sorcerer, a cynical werewolf, and a disgruntled witch—and we have to find someone who can help us before the Edison Group finds us first. Or die trying

My thoughts :
I have to admit I was expecting something better but I liked it .. not loved though. I really enjoyed learning more about all the characters : I especially love Derek.
One thing that surprises me a lot about this series is that the heroine is only 15 but it's not that hard to step into her shoes (I don't know if you can say that in English or not, sorry). Like in The Summoning, I really liked all these gifted kids : I've seen a lot of movies with kids who have super powers .. but I had never really read a book like that before The Summoning and The Awakening.
One thing that disappointed me was that I was hoping for a little more romance in this book .. but it's alright, I can live without it, well for now at least. I don't know if those who have read the book see what I'm talking about but I need a special scene between 2 characters to happen in the third book !!
My review ends here .. I'm off to read The Reckoning that I received today in the mail ...

My rating :

Plot : ★★
Characters : ★★
Ending : ★★★
Cover : ★
Writing : ★★★

Romance in a book is usually one of my favorite parts! :)

  4. I was hoping there would be more romance in that book. But sounds good and I think I need to move these up on my TBR list!
