Review : Darkfever by Karen Moning (spoiler free) !

Goodreads : MacKayla Lane’s life is good. She has great friends, a decent job, and a car that breaks down only every other week or so. In other words, she’s your perfectly ordinary twenty-first-century woman. Or so she thinks…until something extraordinary happens.
When her sister is murdered, leaving a single clue to her death–a cryptic message on Mac’s cell phone–Mac journeys to Ireland in search of answers. The quest to find her sister’s killer draws her into a shadowy realm where nothing is as it seems, where good and evil wear the same treacherously seductive mask. She is soon faced with an even greater challenge: staying alive long enough to learn how to handle a power she had no idea she possessed–a gift that allows her to see beyond the world of man, into the dangerous realm of the Fae….
As Mac delves deeper into the mystery of her sister’s death, her every move is shadowed by the dark, mysterious Jericho, a man with no past and only mockery for a future. As she begins to close in on the truth, the ruthless Vlane–an alpha Fae who makes sex an addiction for human women–closes in on her. And as the boundary between worlds begins to crumble, Mac’s true mission becomes clear: find the elusive Sinsar Dubh before someone else claims the all-powerful Dark Book–because whoever gets to it first holds nothing less than complete control of the very fabric of both worlds in their hands…

My thoughts :  This is the first book in the Mackayla Lane series. I've finally read this book YAY !! A lot of bloggers had advised me too and I'm glad I did because it was great.
First of all, I immediately loved Mac : she's just so funny !! I also finally met the famous  Barrons who is really really HOT! He's such a mysterious character and I look forward to learning more about him.
I'd have wanted a little more romance in this book but I guess as it is only the first one of the series, my wishes will be fulfilled with the next books (at least, I hope so).
The plot was really awesome. It's one of these books that make you turn the pages without realizing you are .. I can't wait to read Bloodfever (book 2 in the series, which I'm going to start right after having posted this review) and see how the plot and the story will be led.
To finish, I love Karen's writing : it's so fluent. Even when there weren't dialogues, I wasn't able to stop and I wasn't getting tired of reading descriptions (which for me is kind of surprizing) !!
I'd be very happy if you'd let me know (in your comments) if you've read this series (or not) and what you think of it  =)

My rating :
Plot : ★★
Characters : ★★
Ending : ★★
Cover : ★
Writing : ★★★

  2. I'm reading the last book in the series now - the Shadowfever. I read four Fever books in 10 days, because it's soo awesome! I actually consider this the best book series ever. And I mean - really EVER.
And to Barrons - he's the hottest guy ever appeared in any book! And wait for romance - maybe it's a little bit longer waiting (considering Barrons' sexappeal :D), but it definitely pays out!
